KC Area Berry Patches are in Full Swing!
Craving a berry tart? How about fresh berry pies? The littlest Hayhow, featured in the photo, prefers them straight off the vine. Berry picking is a great way to spend a few “unplugged” hours with your family. You could even sneak in some education for the kids, too (“How many berries do you think it will take to make a pound?” and “What makes a blueberry blue?”)! Your big kids can help the little ones pick and you can enjoy watching your kids bond – for a couple of minutes, in any case. We just finished up strawberry season, but blueberries and blackberries are ripe and ready at several berry patches. Always be sure to call or visit their Facebook pages before you head out to make sure they are open for picking that day!
